Werner Shuna Small Shaft Paddle – 215cm, Red

The Werner Shuna Small Shaft Paddle combines the established performance of Werner’s premium Shuna with a smaller-diameter shaft for paddlers who prefer a narrower grip.

This version uses the same mid-sized, high-angle Shuna blade design as the standard-diameter model. The difference is the diameter of the shaft, making it an alternative for paddlers with smaller hands or anyone who finds a slimmer shaft more comfortable to hold.

Small-Diameter Straight Shaft

Werner offers the Shuna with either a standard- or small-diameter shaft.

The smaller shaft is designed to help appropriately sized hands maintain a relaxed grip. Werner recommends considering its small-diameter option when the distance from the wrist joint to the tip of the middle finger measures less than 6.5 inches. Paddlers close to that measurement may benefit from trying both shaft sizes before choosing.

Changing the shaft diameter does not change the Shuna’s blade size, shape or intended paddling performance.

Mid-Sized High-Angle Blades

The Shuna features mid-sized, high-angle blades with a surface area of 615cm².

The high-angle profile is intended for paddlers who use a more upright shaft position and want responsive power for strokes in multiple directions. Its mid-sized blade provides useful purchase in the water without moving up to one of Werner’s larger high-angle designs.

Werner positions the Shuna for coastal play and for paddlers seeking a controlled feel through the water when covering distance.

Premium Fibreglass Blades

The translucent red blades are manufactured from fibreglass laminate, providing a combination of stiffness, durability and relatively low swing weight.

A custom-shaped, low-profile reinforcement spine contributes to blade stiffness and strength while supporting manoeuvrability when linking different strokes.

Dihedral Blade Design

The Shuna uses Werner’s dihedral blade design.

The shaped power face helps water flow evenly from both sides of the blade during the stroke, promoting smooth and stable forward paddling while reducing unwanted flutter.

Its asymmetrical blade shape is also designed to support efficient entry and balanced loading through the water.

Smart-View Adjustable Ferrule

The two-piece construction makes the paddle easier to transport and store than a one-piece model.

Werner’s Smart-View Adjustable Ferrule System allows the feather angle to be adjusted while providing a secure connection between the two sections. Its low-profile design is intended to deliver the solid feel of a one-piece paddle without an external fitting that can snag equipment.

Who Is the Werner Shuna Small Shaft For?

The Shuna Small Shaft is designed for paddlers who want a premium, responsive high-angle paddle but prefer a smaller shaft diameter.

It is particularly relevant for:

  • Paddlers with smaller hands
  • Paddlers who struggle to maintain a relaxed grip on standard-diameter shafts
  • Sea and touring kayakers using an active, higher-angle stroke
  • Coastal paddlers who regularly use forward and manoeuvring strokes
  • Paddlers seeking a two-piece paddle with adjustable feather

The small-shaft version retains the Shuna’s established 615cm² blade, fibreglass construction and high-angle performance while offering an alternative grip diameter.
