Werner Ikelos 2 Piece Straight Shaft Kayak Paddle
The Werner Ikelos is an advanced, full-carbon kayak paddle created for paddlers who want the powerful feel of a full-size blade and use a high-angle paddling style.
Part of Werner’s Ultimate performance range, the Ikelos combines buoyant carbon blades, a stable dihedral profile and a smooth back face to produce light, confident strokes with clean entry and exit from the water.
Its large blade area provides a powerful feel through the stroke, making the Ikelos particularly well suited to larger, well-conditioned paddlers. It is a premium choice for touring, cruising and play where efficient power, precise control and a refined feel on the water are priorities.
Buoyant Full-Carbon Blades
The Ikelos features full-size, full-carbon blades designed to provide a powerful catch while feeling exceptionally light through the water.
The volume and buoyancy of the blades help create an effortless, responsive sensation during each stroke. This supports smooth transitions and reduces the heavy feeling that can be associated with less buoyant blade constructions.
Smooth and Stable Forward Strokes
Werner’s dihedral blade design directs water evenly across both sides of the blade. This helps reduce flutter and supports a smooth, stable forward stroke.
The asymmetrical blade shape is designed around an efficient paddling position, while the smooth back face promotes cleaner entry and exit from the water. It also gives the paddle an elegant feel during linking and manoeuvring strokes.
Full-Size High-Angle Blade
With a blade area of 691 cm², the Ikelos is one of Werner’s full-size high-angle paddle designs.
The substantial blade surface provides a powerful feel and is particularly appropriate for larger, well-conditioned paddlers who are comfortable maintaining a more active paddling cadence and applying greater force through each stroke.
Dynel® Reinforced Edges
The carbon blade edges are reinforced with Dynel®, an impact- and abrasion-resistant material that provides additional protection in demanding paddling environments.
The reinforcement helps protect the areas of the blade most likely to encounter wear while preserving the light, refined feel of Werner’s Ultimate construction.
Werner notes that its Ultimate paddles prioritise paddling performance, low weight and advanced materials rather than maximum impact resistance. The Ikelos should therefore be treated as a premium carbon paddle and used with appropriate care around rocks, shorelines and other hard surfaces.
