The NRS Ambient PFD combines a classic front-zip design with flexible flotation, practical storage and a modern, body-conscious fit.

Created primarily for recreational paddling, it offers the freedom of movement needed to paddle, swim and enjoy time on the water without the complexity of a specialist rescue or expedition PFD.

Its medium-profile construction distributes flotation evenly between the front and back. This creates a slim, balanced fit while leaving room around the shoulders and arms for comfortable movement.

Flexible NRS Orbit Fit System™

The Ambient is built around the NRS Orbit Fit System™.

Instead of using a small number of large, rigid foam blocks, Orbit Fit layers multiple pieces of lightweight closed-cell foam. Each piece is cut to precise specifications to create flexible, pre-curved flotation panels that conform more naturally to the body.

This construction is designed to improve comfort, increase range of motion and reduce the temptation to over-tighten the adjustment straps.

NRS Every Body Design™

NRS Every Body Design™ rethinks how a paddling PFD fits and performs across different body shapes.

This design philosophy removes the need to divide the Ambient into separate men’s and women’s models. Instead, its shaped flotation and adjustable construction are intended to provide a comfortable fit for a broad range of paddlers.

The Ambient also uses graded sizing. This changes the foam platform and flotation value between sizes, helping each version provide a more proportionate combination of fit and buoyancy.

Convenient Front-Zip Entry

A full-length YKK® front zip makes the Ambient straightforward to put on and remove.

Once zipped, six adjustment points allow the fit to be secured and refined:

• Two shoulder adjustments
• Two side adjustments
• Two waist adjustments

A silicone-coated inner waistband helps hold the PFD in position, including while swimming, while shoulder-strap keepers help control loose webbing.

Expandable Zipped Storage

Two large, expandable front pockets provide accessible storage for smaller on-water essentials.

Both pockets are secured with zips, helping to keep their contents contained while paddling, swimming or moving around the water.

Accessory Attachment Points

The Ambient includes four attachment points positioned across the front and back. These can be used with suitable accessories such as lights and strobes.

A separate front lash tab provides an additional attachment position for a compatible paddling knife.

Accessories should always be attached in a way that does not interfere with the fit, operation or safety performance of the PFD.

Comfortable Moisture-Managing Lining

A four-way-stretch, double-knit polyester lining sits comfortably against the body and helps manage moisture during active use.

Combined with the flexible Orbit Fit foam and adjustable construction, this helps the Ambient remain comfortable through a full paddling session.

Recycled and PVC-Free Construction

The Ambient uses a durable shell made from 100% recycled 420-denier ripstop nylon.

Its inner fabric is made from 100% recycled 200-denier nylon, while the flotation system uses PVC-free Ethafoam shims.

This combines durable paddling materials with increased use of recycled fabrics.

Reflective Detailing

Strategically positioned 3M® reflective accents help improve the PFD’s visibility in reduced light.

These details do not replace dedicated lighting or other appropriate safety equipment, but they provide a useful additional visibility feature.

Select the size that corresponds with both the wearer’s chest measurement and user-weight range. Once fitted, adjust the shoulder, side and waist straps until the PFD is secure without restricting breathing or normal paddling movement.
