The BPM Covert 9.3 Airbags (Pair) are purpose-made floatation bags shaped specifically to fit the bow and stern of the Silverbirch Covert 9.3 — not a generic, sized-by-inches float bag squeezed in and hoped for. A stepped-rocker river-runner OC1 like the Covert 9.3 is built to be paddled on moving water, and airbags are functional safety equipment for that use, not an optional extra: correctly fitted bags reduce the volume of water a swamped hull can hold, which makes a capsized canoe lighter, easier to control, and far quicker to bilge out and get back underway.

Hand-made in the UK, built to take a beating

BPM Whitewater hand-manufacture their airbags in the UK. This pair is constructed from 210D Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) with a high-tenacity nylon fabric, joined with 12mm HF-welded seams — a tougher, more reliably watertight join than the glued PVC seams found on cheaper generic float bags. Each bag inflates through a urethane fill tube with a micro valve, so there's no small screw cap to lose on the riverbank, and empties fast through a low-profile, high-flow raft-style dump valve when it's time to bilge out after a swim.
