Built for the Covert 10.5 Tandem, not the Solo
The BPM Covert 10.5 Tandem Airbags (Pair) are purpose-made floatation bags shaped specifically to fit the bow and stern of the Silverbirch Covert 10.5 in its tandem configuration — a different shape from the Covert 10.5 Solo pairing, so check you've got the right one for your boat before ordering. The Covert 10.5 Tandem already comes fitted with lacing to keep equipment and airbags secure, and for a two-paddler whitewater boat, airbags are functional safety equipment, not an optional extra: correctly fitted bags reduce the volume of water a swamped tandem hull can hold, making a capsized canoe lighter, easier to control, and far quicker to bilge out and get back underway — with a bigger hull to clear than a solo boat, that recovery matters even more.
Hand-made in the UK, built to take a beating
BPM Whitewater hand-manufacture their airbags in the UK. This pair is constructed from 210D Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) with a high-tenacity nylon fabric, joined with 12mm HF-welded seams — a tougher, more reliably watertight join than the glued PVC seams found on cheaper generic float bags. Each bag empties fast through a low-profile, high-flow raft-style dump valve with an oral valve adapter included, so bilging out after a swim doesn't slow the group down.
Pair for the Covert 10.5 Tandem
Sold as a matched pair sized for the Covert 10.5 Tandem's bow and stern cavities.
