Efficient low-angle paddling

The Sting Ray Hybrid is designed primarily for low-angle paddling, where the paddle shaft is held at a shallower angle during the forward stroke.

Its slender blade shape and 597 cm² surface area provide efficient propulsion while helping to reduce unnecessary strain over longer distances. This makes it a versatile choice for touring, recreational paddling and exploring sheltered inland waters.

The blade’s dihedral shape helps water flow evenly across each side, promoting a smooth and stable stroke with reduced flutter.

Lightweight carbon shaft

The paddle features a 100% carbon shaft, helping to reduce both overall weight and swing weight. At approximately 850 g, the Sting Ray Hybrid is comfortable to use over extended periods and requires less effort to lift repeatedly throughout the stroke cycle than a heavier entry-level paddle.

Ovalised sections through the hand-placement areas help paddlers locate a comfortable and consistent grip while improving control of the blade angle.

Durable reinforced nylon blades

The Sting Ray Hybrid uses Aqua Bound’s fibreglass-reinforced nylon blades.

This injection-moulded construction combines dependable durability with a controlled degree of flex, creating a forgiving feel that is suitable for frequent recreational and touring use. The blades provide sufficient stiffness for an efficient forward stroke without the cost associated with a full-composite blade construction.

Posi-Lok™ ferrule system

Aqua Bound’s Posi-Lok™ ferrule creates a secure connection between the two sections of the paddle while allowing straightforward feather-angle adjustment.

The paddle can be set at zero feather or adjusted in 15° increments for either left- or right-hand control. The two-button system is simple to operate and provides a firm connection between the shaft sections.

When separated, the two-piece construction makes the paddle easier to transport, store and carry as a spare.
